Tips and Tricks for scoring great marks in PUC and Class X final exams

Preparation to prepare well for the exams is as important at writing well in the exams to score great marks. Those 3 hours are crucial. Even more crucial are those many hours a student has to utilize for preparing. To quote Abraham Lincoln, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
In this write up, we present to you the advice by renowned psychologist Dr. C R Chandrashekar to prepare well for class X, PUC final exam or any other exam for that matter.
8R tips to score great marks in final exams.
R1: Right Time and Place: Each student has different preference of time and place for studying. The night owls may prefer late night whereas the sky larks love the early hours of the day. One needs to decide, who she is? An owl or a sky lark. Aping someone else’s study time may be detrimental. Same goes with the place. One may be comfortable amidst all people and noise, others may prefer a quiet and serene place.
R2: Read for 30-40 min only: After choosing the right time and the right place, read the subject that you intend to study for 30-40 minutes only. It helps in effective learning and retention.
R3: Write: Write down and practice the subject matter which you read. If not everything, at least the important points, formulae, definitions etc.,
R4: Relax: It is a good idea to relax for 10-15 minutes after reading and writing. In the relaxation period, you must not indulge in watching or playing on electronic gadgets as they strain the nerves and brain. Remember exams are nearing and you must refrain & restrain oneself from all these.
R5: Recall: After relaxing, you must return to the right place and recall the topics you read and wrote.
R6: Rehearse: You must rehearse for writing in the exam, by writing the topics learnt within the stipulated time. Good time management gives you the confidence to fare better in exams. For e.g. a hypothetical one, a 10 marks answer to be answered in 10-12min.
R7: Repeat: You must repeat the whole process 4-5 times in a day to cover the syllabus.
Note: The number of cycles depends on the subject and the grade in which you are studying.
R8: Regular Food and Sleep: To do well in exams, hydrate yourself with water and non-aerated drinks and eat right food and sleep early. Note: Please sleep for 7 hours on the previous night of the exam.
