For every Steve Jobs or Bill Gates who dropped out of school and made it big, there are lakhs of others who couldn’t do much. Dropping out and making it big is an amazing idea, if you are highly focused, determined, have the fire in the belly, are highly practical and is very well versed in conceptual knowledge…If not it would be a damp squid. The idea I am trying to drive here is, dropping out is not a great option for everybody… unless you are determined to roughen up lots of feathers and slush and get hands and feet dirty.
Reasons for dropping out are many; Some like financial, social, cultural, physical, psychological etc.,,are not in the controlled by the students and parents… whereas some like wrong choice of course due to various pressures or wrong counseling. Wrong selection of the course is another important and most dangerous factor leading to dropping out of students from the courses and colleges. It is evident that wrong selection of course in school or college leads to poor academic performance, lack of interest in studies, distractions, involvement in unacceptable activities etc.,
Wrong selection of course can be due to social, peer, parental or any other pressures. It may be because of the trend in the market and even because of ignorance. All this can be solved by a thorough counseling, discussion and clear understanding of the course, strength and weakness of the students, likes and dislikes family background etc.,
Through this blog we urge each student to, have some information on the type of career they like to build first and have a discussion with the parents later and then arrive at a conclusion. We also urge the parents to listen to the ideas of their wards with all patience and not to impose your likes or dislikes on them. If you feel there is a necessity of a third party intervention, you can always approach them. Googling and collating information, visiting colleges for well-structured information is also a good idea to align your future plans with your graduation course. We at MICA are open for counseling; you need not have any apprehension in seeking our assistance as this counseling doesn’t come with any riders. You may feel free to contact the admission team for more information.
